A Misguided Argument Against A National Language
By Joe Eule :: 4 Comments

Senator Barack Obama’s discussion yesterday on issues of language displayed a shocking combination of ignorance and arrogance. He begins by criticizing those who want to pass “English only” legislation, which is a pejorative term for making English our official language – a position supported by 85 percent of Americans. Making English our official language would do nothing to inhibit our children from learning a second language; it would only make English the official language of government. The “English only” charge is a straw man.

Meaningless Gimmick?
By Joe Eule :: 2 Comments
Barack Obama has called John McCain’s plan to allow offshore drilling a “meaningless gimmick” that would do nothing to lower gas prices “this year, next year, five years from now.”  McCain argues that showing we’re serious about increasing supply will lead to immediate downward pressure on prices.  Who is right?
