Monica Crowley in Human Events pens a column about the congressional Democrats continuing to ignore evidence of stabilization in Iraq.
You know it’s bad for the Democrats when even their house media organ, The New York Times, makes fun of them. On November 19, the Times reported this:
“Democrats in Congress failed once again on Friday to shift President Bush’s war strategy in Iraq, but insisted that they would not let up. Their explanation for their latest foiled effort seemed to boil down to a simple question: ‘What else are we supposed to do?’”
What else are they supposed to do?!
How about SUPPORT the war effort? How about support the progress being made in Iraq? How about ACTUALLY supporting the troops instead of trying to pass legislation to pull the rug out from under them?
In the Hill Blog, Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming recalls his recent Thanksgiving trip to Iraq to be with the troops from his home state. Over the holiday weekend Senator Barrasso spoke with the troops and came away with signs of hope from the people on the ground.
The soldiers of Wyoming confirmed for me what the military leaders told us in our briefings. Injuries to our soldiers and to civilians have declined for the past four months. The number of IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices), bombs, and rocket attacks has also dropped. The Iraqi people, through neighborhood watch programs, are cooperating much more and turning in members of al Qaeda.

40 US soldiers and countless Iraqis dead on the streets per month is not stabilization. Are we still peeing away $6 billion of US taxpayer money a month into this wonderful success? If we are then I'm not impressed.
