Jerome Sherman in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports the Democrats’ lead attack-dog in the House, Rep. John Murtha, admitted yesterday that the surge in Iraq is working. 

"I think the 'surge' is working," Mr. Murtha, a Democrat, said in a video conference from his Johnstown office, describing the president's decision to commit nearly 30,000 additional troops at the beginning of the year.

Sara Carter of The Washington Times reports on Islamic terrorists targeting Fort Huachuca, the nation’s largest intelligence-training center in Arizona.  Confidential security documents obtained by The Times stated that up to 60 Iraqi and Afghan terrorists were planning to attack the base using high-powered weapons smuggled into the U.S. with the help of Mexican drug cartels.

Every day, reports out of Iraq show new evidence that the surge, orchestrated by Gen. Petraeus, is working. An article today in the Washington Post reports on more signs of success in Iraq:
“Rear Adm. Gregory Smith said Sunday that violence in parts of Iraq had fallen to it’s lowest levels since summer 2005… Iraqi civilian casualties are down 60 percent since June, and they have dropped 75 percent in Baghdad.”
